Shooting from the hip

The other morning I’m walking the dogs on the beach and I bumped into Gabrielle McKone, a Wellington-based photographer with enough discipline to post a photo a day on her blog … even if she has a toothache. And she’s not cheating by drawing from a massive archive of previously shot images … she’s out there in all weather and posts from that day’s takings.
Gabrielle uses a “shoot from the hip” style of photography – sans viewfinder – so if you’re all at the same event, your results may differ!
She sent these couple of pix of the dogs from the discard heap of that morning’s walk. You can view a more exclusive collection here on her blog.
However, if you’re going to be in Wellington head to Courtenay Place and have a look at Gabrielle’s Three Stories Up exhibition featuring 48 photographic artworks stacked three-high in 16 light boxes along the street.
Worth it. Do it.
